Your sustainable holiday at Golm
Did you know that Golm is a responsible ski resort? And that’s not all: The adventure mountain is known as the most sustainable leisure area of the Alps – both in summer and in winter. This makes Golm the go-to place for all those who care about the environment as much as we do. After all, nature is the stage for your most stunning hiking and skiing moments in the Montafon valley.
Sustainability goals:
where we’re headed
#1 reduction of our greenhouse gas emissions by 77 % by 2030 (base year 2016/17). Until now we have reduced 60 % of our CO2e-emissions.
#2 dedicated advancement of e-mobility projects
#3 continuous increase of energy efficiency

Climate Change
Why are sustainability goals so important for us at Golm? The answer is simple: Because if we don’t actively begin to fight climate change, we will be faced with increased temperatures and fewer days of frost in winter. What’s more, there will be less snow and more extreme weather events such as periods of heavy rainfall or droughts. This will have severe effects on our region’s wildlife – and, of course, on the way we will be able to spend summer and winter holidays in the mountains in the future.
Climate-neutrality
It’s down to each and every one of us to make their individual contribution to the protection and preservation of our environment. At Golm, we try to contribute by keeping our greenhouse gas emissions as low as possible. Those areas in which we are unable to reduce emissions, we support climate projects via the turn to zero platform.
It’s important for us to give you the chance to spend your holidays at Golm in a climate-friendly and sustainable way. Find out what you can do and how you can enjoy a getaway in tune with nature! One thing’s for sure: The environment will thank you for it!
Sustainability measures
our contribution
We have established a number of measures to offer our guests the opportunity to spend sustainable holidays at Golm. Here are some of them:
Winter Sports
During a “normal” ski day, guests produce seven times more greenhouse gas emissions than during an ecological ski day. And that’s only one reason why we are actively support climate projects.
Wintersport im Montafon ” (“eco-friendly winter sports in the Montafon”) together with various interest groups. Its goal: to reconciliate off-piste winter sports with the protection of natural habitats.
Snow Management
At first sight, the snow beneath your skis when you swoosh down the stunning slopes of Golm may look like just that: snow. However, in reality it’s the result of a thought-out snow management system. It involves three areas:
- slope construction and grooming
- installation and management of snow cannons for artificial snow-making
- snow depth measurement and regulation
The fascinating thing about it: Thanks to our detailed snow forecast, we know how much snow there is at any given time at any location in the ski resort. This helps our snow cat drivers and artificial snow-making systems to work in a particularly efficient way. Because our snow cannons only produce snow where it is needed – so that you can enjoy every ride to the fullest.
Mobility
Would you like to travel in a climate-friendly way? We’re happy to support your efforts – with the following two options:
Drive an electric car and cut down greenhousegas emissions.
Your benefit: Charge your electric car at one of 18 charging stations while you go skiing, hiking or simply enjoy the day.
Use public transport and benefit from the Green Ticket.
What’s the Green Ticket ? It’s your day ticket to Erlebnisberg Golm – and it doubles as your bus or train ticket. Good to know: Green Tickets are available for guests travelling to Golm by public transport from Vorarlberg, St. Anton (Tyrol), Lindau (Germany) or Buchs / St. Margrethen (Switzerland).
10% discount* at the Golmerbahn with the KlimaTicket Österreich
*10% discount on the ascent and/or descent upon presentation of a valid KlimaTicket Austria at the ticket office (only cable car tickets, not attractions). Not valid for online tickets. Not valid on reduced tickets.
Hotels and restaurants
The local hotels and restaurants also contribute to environmental protection – for instance, by …
- … being a member of the bewusstmontafon initiative.
- … being certified with the AMA quality seal.
- … using reusable packaging and bulk packs instead of plastic.
- … using biodegradable detergents carrying the EU eco label.
- … offering an increasing number of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
- … working with local suppliers.
Talking about local suppliers and products: Panoramarestaurant Grüneck is a pioneer in terms of sustainability, offering a large selection of regional, healthy dishes as well as a lovely sun terrace and, of course, splendid views.
Energy
Golm is powered by 100 per cent green energy. This is more climate-friendly and makes the resort less dependent on fossil fuels. Other “clean-energy” measures include:
The world’s first chairlift fitted with an integrated photovoltaic system
At Hüttenkopf chairlift, every third guest is transported to the top by solar energy.
The power of water
A thought-out drainage system collects the water from artificial snow-making in winter and uses it to produce green electricity from hydropower.
Smart energy management
All energy flows within the ski resort are recorded to increase efficiency.
Sustainability in the workplace
Ahead of its time: The workplace of the future is sustainable, flexible and resource-saving. And that’s just what we want to offer our team members, too. That’s why we decided to offer our employees a number of benefits that are also beneficial to the environment:
- introduction of the 4-day week
- private use of electric company cars plus charging facilities for private electric cars on the company premises
- sustainable business travels by train or electric car
- regional, fresh lunch at our company restaurant
- modern, resource-saving workstations
By the way: We also consider our sustainability goals when it comes to events and company festivities – because we love nature!
